My family has a liking to this simple dish. It was introduced by my shorthand teacher years ago when we were invited to her place during Deepavali. Back then, she used canned minced meat. Whenever I cook this dish, it will remind me of her. For this recipe i use fresh minced meat.
Ingredients:750 g minced beef1 clove garlic - finely chopped1 onion - finely chopped2 cups breadcrumbs2 tbls cold water1 egg, lightly beaten1 teaspoon ground cumin2 stalks coriander leave - fine choppedGround black pepperSalt and pepper
All purpose flour for coatingMethods:1. Combined all ingredients, except flour. Blend well and add salt and pepper to taste.2. With moistened hands, shape into balls.3. Coat lightly with all purpose flour.4. Heat oil and fry until lightly browned on all sides.5. Add the meatballs into the sauce and stir until all covered with sauce.Note: You can make the usual sweet and sour sauce or alternatively use the canned spaghetti sauce.
I was introduced to this dish by my other half, years ago. Up to now, i still don't understand why people fancy eating it when there isn't much meat. Anyway, it has become my family's favourite dish. When buying tulang, choose the one that some meat to it.
Tulang or Bone Steak
Bahan2nya:
Bahan A
4 kilo tulang, dibersihkan
2" halia, diketuk
2 bawang besar, dihiris
Bahan B
40 batang lada kering, dikisar
4 sudu besar lada serbuk
3 biji bawang besar, didadu kecil
2 inci halia, diketuk
1/2 botol tomato sos
2 sudu besar rempah kari daging
4 sudu besar kicap manis
Gula dan garam
Bahan C
3 biji kentang, didadu
4 biji tomato, didadu
1/4 kobis dihiris
Cara2nya:
1. Rebus Bahan A hingga empuk (3 jam atau lebih). Buang air rebusan.
2. Tumis bawang besar hingga layu. Masukkan halia, rempah kari, lada kisar dan lada serbuk. Tumis lagi. Bila tumisan agak kering, tuang air sedikit demi sedikit dan masak lagi hingga wangi.
3. Tambahkan air. Masukkan kentang dan masak hingga empuk.
4. Kemudian masukkan tomato sos, kicap manis, gula dan garam.
5. Masukkan tulang yang empuk, tomato yang didadu, kobis dan masak hingga sebati.
6. Rasa dan tambah apa2 yang kurang.
